**Thailand Apostille Convention (effective 22 December 2024).** Thailand officially joined the Hague Apostille Convention 1961, covering 126 member states. The Department of Consular Affairs issues Apostille stamps with QR verification that replace embassy legalization in destination countries. Government fees: THB 200 Apostille + THB 200 MFA Legalization. Standard processing 1–2 business days (excluding document preparation). Eligible documents include public records, court documents, notarial acts and attorney-certified copies.
**Insider tip for BTS Siam clients.** Before submitting documents for Apostille, verify every page bears an original (not stamped) officer signature and embossed seal — the Department of Consular Affairs rejects photocopies without affixed seals. iVC pre-checks every document. Some documents (e.g. translations) must be notarized before Apostille is possible.
A Notary is a lawyer authorised by the Lawyers Council to certify signatures/copies for foreign use (without inspecting content). An Apostille is a state-level certification issued by the MFA under the Hague 1961 Convention, replacing destination-embassy legalisation. Thailand joined on 22 Dec 2024.

Required for Australian visa applications, professional registrations (AHPRA, Engineers Australia), education (AsQA), Skilled Migration and Australian courts. Translations done by non-NAATI translators are rejected by the Department of Home Affairs without exception.

เอกสารต่างประเทศที่ต้องใช้ในไทยจะถูกส่งเข้ากระบวนการ Notary Public, MoFA Legalization, Apostille หรือสถานทูตตามที่ปลายทางกำหนด
